The Beautiful Elements of our Lives are Unexpected Meetings and Relationships!
Learning a new language from scratch at 40, leaving my home, my family, my job and all my certainties was definitely hard. After few, but very long months of thinking, I listened to my heart, chose love and the person I love, and I decided to live overseas. After 4 years, I’m still living a challenging adventure, full of difficulties but at the same time rich in unexpected satisfaction and unique meetings. We decided to escape from the city for the summer; away from the heat and crowds, and we moved for 3 months to Milford, CT. We decided to move to the country, away from the City of skyscrapers and busyness, surrounded by nature and lovely people. Manhattan is only a small representation of the big US; Milford CT is one of the beautiful part. In Manhattan you can feel lonely in the middle of a thousand people, or in your building with 200 neighbors; in Milford; you can close your eyes and just listen to the birds calls and the caress of the breeze from the sound. Everybody is very welcoming as in a small community. They care for you and your garden, as part of a big natural park they share with you. On June 2015 my path crossed with Florence Gambino, a special woman with a lively personality and Italian blood. I immediately felt empathy to this energetic lady who is familiar with my culture and profoundly loves it. She has a high level of knowledge in many fields, especially historical and humanistic. Florence is a wise woman, who lived her life with courage and who still wishes to give her time and share her experience with others. We spent marvelous time together. She was not only a special tutor, but a lovely reference point. Through her detailed historical narratives, sometimes colorful and fun, she taught me more about her country and its history and made me feel more comfortable, even if far from my motherland. It is amazing how 3 months flew, but I’m fortunate to keep a fond memory. This summer, I’ve learned that for appreciating a country, we need to know its history, and for becoming attached, we need to make human relationships. Where were you born? Where is your home? Where are you going? What are you doing? Our next computer class begins Wednesday, October 21, 6:00.
