We are grateful for ALL your support in 2015!! A huge thanks to you – our donors, volunteers, sponsors, tutors, staff – and students!! To leave a homeland and come to America is often a lonely step, made even more lonely because of the language barrier. We offer our newest residents an opportunity learn our language so they can talk with doctors, teachers, grocery clerks, and neighbors. We help them gain the ability to make friends, conduct business – like open a checking account, and use our transportation systems. New English skills can open doors – to employment, a promotion, and becoming a part of the American culture. In the words of Savun Bozander, your support made her life more successful and created a comfort to combat the early loneliness. “I like Milford and Milford is special to me because the people are very nice. For the rest of my life, I will never forget the Literacy Center of Milford. They help me learn English, and the teachers are very nice people. I want to say thank you to the teachers who help me. I like spring in Milford because I like to grow pretty flowers, delicious vegetables, and mint. I like the different seasons. Another reason I like Milford is because it is a safe and quiet place. Milford is my favorite place to live in the United States. Thank you for the teachers who help me so much. I will never forget them.” (Savun became a US citizen in 2014) Student: Savun Bozander We have accomplished much in 2015. Please consider an extra donation to help us help those who come here to establish a new life in a new land. We wish you the most joyful holiday season! Your Friends of Literacy
