Memories come to my mind when I think what Milford means to me.

Ten years ago, a friend of my husband and I told us about a nice place by the water called
Milford –a perfect place to start a new life.  We decided to come and take a look at Milford.

For the past six weeks, the computer class at the Literacy Center of Milford has been focusing on developing basic computer skills from opening and managing an email account, attaching documents to emails, to Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint. Beyond the skills for using computers, one of the greatest accomplishments of this class is the increase of confidence of the participants to approach the use of computers. Helping the participants to feel free to explore and experiment with computers leads to faster and more effective learning. The comments from the participants regarding this class testify to the effective experience of learning computer skills that will help for current employment as to the pursuit of new work endeavors. It was a pleasure to be part of this experience and it would be a pleasure to repeat it in the near future. Click to read more.

Remembering Joy

The memorial service to celebrate Joy Stonier’s life was held on Saturday, June 14 at the First United Church of Christ in Milford.  Friends and family gathered to remember her life.  Memories included time spent with with family and friends, worldly travels, love of reading, her community involvement in church, school and co founding the Rape Crisis Center and The Literacy Center of Milford.  She was a pioneer in many ways and will be greatly missed.  Donations made to the Literacy Center in Joy’s memory can be viewed on the Literacy Lives On page.
