Student Share their StoriesThere are many reasons why I like Milford. The coastal scenery, the easy commute, and a lovely hometown for my kids during their childhood; the small town of Milford is close to my heart. Milford is a coastal city in Southern New Haven County. Milford is located between Bridgeport and New Haven. The population is 52,981 (2012). Milford has lots of beaches. It has the Silver Sand Beach, Woodmont Beach, Walnut Beach and Charles Island. Tutor shares her book, My Cat, Merigold.Angelica Joy (aka, LCoM tutor, Martha Salmon) is a retired teacher who has spent most of her life teaching English as a Second Language to students from all over the world. In addition to public school teaching, Angelica has done many years of private tutoring and still enjoys offering academic support to students of all ages and grade levels. Over the years, she has also explored various other career paths on a part-time basis, including day care, real estate, and adult education. She especially enjoyed her work as a whole foods cooking teacher and caterer. Studying the topic of wellness has become one of her life-long passions. In her upcoming wellness book, I Can’t Get Sick, Angelica takes on the role of wellness mentor as she shares her secrets to perfect health. Save the Date… |
We’re in the Time Capsule Celebrating Ramadan VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME AS AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TUTOR The Literacy Center of Milford Offers English Language Tutor Training to Help Local Adults — A wonderful opportunity for you can make a difference in someone else’s life! The Literacy Center of Milford is offering a five-week volunteer TUTOR TRAINING class in ESL (English as a Second Language) for the area’s non-English-speaking adults, beginning in September 2014. Classes will be held at the Center, 16 Dixon Street in Milford from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. on September 16, 23, 30, Oct 7 and 14. There is a $25 fee for course materials. Knowledge of a foreign language is not necessary. All prospective tutors will be interviewed in advance.
