Think About Becoming a Student

If you need help with reading and writing, or speaking English, or using basic math or using a computer, the Literacy Volunteers of Southern Connecticut is here to help you! Like you, our students come from all of walks of life. Some of our students have learning disabilities and struggle with reading and writing. Some of our students didn’t finish high school and want to get a GED degree. Some of our students recently moved to the United States and do not speak English. These immigrants want to learn the language and get a job and integrate into American culture. They also want to help their children in school.

Think seriously about becoming a student! Read about our programs on this web page, and make an appointment with the Center. We can help you decide which program is best for your needs.  It’s never too late to learn!

Also, go to our FAQs Sheet for the most frequently asked questions from people considering enrollment. You can also read what our students are saying about the Center and how our programs are changing their lives and bringing them opportunities. These students came to this Center very much like you are today, and in need of similar skills.

Call us at 203-878-4800 for an interview, and we will walk you through the process and pair you with a tutor as soon as possible. We are open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
