Executive Director, Tami Jackson (r) gave a presentation to the Milford Hospital Auxiliary at their December 13 luncheon. The luncheon coordinator was Carol Goodwin (l).

The Milford Hospital Auxilary supports the Literacy Center’s Books for Babies and Books for Toddlers program. Every baby born at Milford Hospital is given a book and some information to the parents about reading to their child at an early age. When the child turns one, we send another book with some pre-school story hour information and continue
to encourage reading.

If there is one skill that all children should master, it is reading. Reading is so important for children because they need to use it to learn in all of their other subjects. Without strong reading skills, children may struggle in math, science, social studies and even arts. As adults, they will read everyday no matter what type of job they have. Make reading part of  everyday.

Last year we donated over 400 packets to parents and their children.

Last week the Thursday morning Conversation class began.
It is a small group of intermediate students led by
Florence Gambino and Janice Fodero.
They meet at 9:30 am.

Join us Sat. Nov. 16 as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers face off against the Hartford Wolf Pack!
Local charities including the Literacy Center of Milford will receive part of the proceeds.
In addition, bring a non-perishable food item or make a cash donation for the
Beth-El Center or Sterling House and receive a free gift!
Tickets are $20 (center ice) and available at all offices of The Milford Bank.
